Avatar Swedish metal visionaries Avatar have spent more than two decades turning heavy music into a spectacular, theatrical experience. Formed in Gothenburg in 2001, the band combines crushing riffs, infectious melodies and progressive ambition with a distinctive visual identity led by charismatic frontman Johannes Eckerström. Their international breakthrough came with albums such as Black Waltz and Hail the Apocalypse, followed by acclaimed releases including Avatar Country, Hunter Gatherer and Dance Devil Dance.
In 2025, Avatar entered their next dark chapter with their tenth studio album, Don’t Go in the Forest, an atmospheric and unsettling collection built around the idea of getting lost in the darkest corners of the human mind.
Known for their explosive live shows, elaborate storytelling and uncompromising energy, Avatar continue to blur the boundaries between metal, theatre and spectacle.
