Bio:
Misþyrming Formed in Reykjavík in 2013, Misþyrming have become one of the defining forces of modern Icelandic black metal. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Dagur Gíslason (D.G.), the band quickly gained international recognition with their critically acclaimed debut album Söngvar elds og óreiðu (2015), a release widely regarded as a landmark in the resurgence of Iceland’s extreme metal scene.
Blending ferocious aggression, haunting atmosphere, and a uniquely Icelandic sense of darkness, Misþyrming have built a reputation for creating black metal that is both visceral and deeply immersive. Their subsequent albums, Algleymi (2019) and Með hamri (2022), further cemented their status as one of the genre’s most respected contemporary acts.
Renowned for their intense live performances, Misþyrming have appeared at major festivals across Europe and North America, including Roadburn Festival, where they were selected as Artists in Residence. Continuing to expand their global presence, the band remains at the forefront of Iceland’s internationally celebrated black metal movement, carrying its uncompromising vision to audiences worldwide.
