The Black Dahlia Murder The Black Dahlia Murder, formed in Michigan in 2001, have become one of the defining forces of modern American melodic death metal. Known for their relentless combination of blistering guitar work, technical precision, ferocious vocals and darkly theatrical songwriting, the band built a devoted global following through albums such as Nocturnal, Deflorate, Ritual, Nightbringers and Verminous.
Following the tragic death of founding vocalist Trevor Strnad in 2022, founding guitarist Brian Eschbach stepped behind the microphone, while former guitarist Ryan Knight returned to the lineup. The new era produced Servitude, the band's tenth studio album, released in September 2024 and marking Eschbach's recorded debut as lead vocalist.
After guitarist Brandon Ellis departed in 2025, Wes Hauch joined the band as touring guitarist. Today, The Black Dahlia Murder continue to carry Strnad's legacy forward while pushing their uncompromising brand of melodic death metal into a new chapter.
